Frequently Asked Questions about NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback
How Many Sessions Are Necessary?
It is essential to complete a minimum number of sessions to consolidate the achievements and ensure the long-term benefits of dynamic neurofeedback. However, it is impossible to determine the exact number of sessions needed in advance.
The reactions of the central nervous system vary from one individual to another, as each brain has its own level of plasticity. Therefore, there is no universal protocol, as each person is unique.
You can compare this method to private math lessons or psychological therapy: it is difficult to predict how many sessions will be necessary, but all the work done will be beneficial.
Based on my experience, here’s what I’ve observed with my clients:
• Fewer than 15 sessions may be insufficient if lasting results are desired.
• 16 to 24 sessions: This number seems optimal for most people I have worked with. With this volume, significant changes have been observed. However, every case is unique: some people experience notable improvement after 6 sessions, while others may need 20 sessions or more. Some even choose to continue with two monthly sessions because they experience real well-being.
Keep in mind that the effects of the sessions are long-lasting (as long as a sufficient number of sessions have been completed) and cumulative: the more sessions completed, the more changes will be observed.
It is recommended to schedule the first sessions consecutively, ideally twice a week. Afterward, sessions can be spaced out based on each person’s needs and availability.
Once the person feels they no longer need more sessions, it is recommended to have a few consolidation sessions a few months later to maintain long-term benefits.

What Do You Feel During and After the First Sessions?
Users often report feeling relaxed during the session, as they listen to music, watch a movie, or enjoy a cartoon.
After the first few sessions, users frequently mention experiencing a sense of serenity and calm, along with a certain detachment from situations that previously made them uncomfortable. It is also common to feel more vitality, improved concentration, and clearer thinking. Some people may feel temporarily tired after the first sessions, but they also notice an improvement in the quality of their sleep.
